Sign in at account.riotgames.com, find the Riot Account Sign-In section, and update your password there. If you're locked out, use the password reset page instead.
Your Riot account password is shared across all Riot games. Changing it for League of Legends also changes it for Valorant, TFT, Wild Rift, and everything else on your account.
How to Change Your Password (When You Know It)
- Go to account.riotgames.com and sign in
- Find the Riot Account Sign-In section
- Enter your current password, then type your new password
- Click Save Changes
This logs you out of active sessions on other devices.
How to Reset Your Password (When You're Locked Out)
- Go to recovery.riotgames.com
- Enter the email address linked to your Riot account
- Check your inbox for a password reset email from Riot
- Click the reset link and set a new password
The reset link expires after 24 hours. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder.
Recovering Without Email Access
If you can no longer access the email address linked to your Riot account, the reset flow won't work. You'll need to submit a support ticket to Riot and verify your identity to regain access. Be prepared to answer questions about your account history (purchase records, creation date, IP address, etc.).
Password Requirements
Your new password must meet these rules:
- At least 8 characters long
- Contains at least one letter and at least one number or symbol
- Passes the on-screen strength meter (simple patterns like "password1" will be rejected)
After changing your password, consider enabling multi-factor authentication from the same account.riotgames.com page. Riot supports email codes, the Riot Mobile app, and third-party authenticator apps like Google Authenticator. You can also use the Login Management card there to log out of all active sessions across every device.
