League Classic Ending Jan 6, 2027: Refunds and Return

When Does League Classic End?

League Classic ends on January 6, 2027. Riot announced on October 14, 2026 that the mode will finish its current run at the end of Season 3 and be "put back in the box." The Classic Pass stops earning progress on January 4 and deactivates on January 5, and Riot is refunding Classic-only purchases, with the RP refund deadline set at November 30, 2026. This page collects the dates, who gets refunded what, and what Riot has said about the mode coming back. For what the mode is, see the League of Legends Classic guide.

When Does League Classic End?

Riot's support page says League Classic is available through the end of Season 3 Act II, until January 6, 2027. Riot's October 14 dev post frames it the same way: Classic runs through the end of Season 3 and then ends its current run. Season 3 itself is listed as ending January 5, 2027 (see the Season 3 schedule), so the mode closes about a day after the season does.

Refund Deadlines and How to Claim

Riot is refunding content that only works inside Classic. Most refunds arrive automatically as RP by November 30, 2026. If you paid with real money and want the money returned to your original payment method instead of RP, you have to contact Player Support yourself, within 30 days. Riot's page does not state the day that 30-day window starts, so do not wait until the end of it.

What Happens to Your Classic Pass, Champions, and Currency

  • Classic Pass: progress ends January 4 and the Pass deactivates January 5, both at 11:59 PM PT. Riot advises using all of your Classic Pass Coins before then. Its page does not say whether unused coins are refunded.
  • Act II of the Pass: from patch 26.21 it is a single, unified free track.
  • Classic store: from patch 26.21 it sells only champions, runes, and rune pages. Rune pages can be bought with Influence Points.
  • Champions: champions you purchased can still be used in Classic matches until the mode ends. Players who already own every champion up to patch 26.20 receive 1,000 Blue Essence instead of a Random Champion from Classic Pass loot.
  • Blue Essence and Influence Points: Riot's page does not address refunds for currency you hold or have spent in Classic.
  • Your main account: Classic runs separately from your live account's rank and collection, so ending the mode does not touch your Summoner's Rift progress.

Will League Classic Come Back?

Riot says the goal is to bring Classic back, with no date. Its dev post describes a return "likely as an event mode with adjustments and additions." That is intent, not a confirmed schedule. Nothing on the support page promises the mode, your Pass, or your refunded content will return, which is part of why Riot is refunding the Classic-only items now. Until Riot announces a date, plan as if January 6 is the end.

League Classic Ending FAQ

Is League Classic permanent?

No. It was launched on July 29, 2026 as a featured game mode and ends its current run on January 6, 2027. See the Classic guide for how the mode works until then.

What is the refund deadline for League Classic?

RP refunds for Classic-only content such as Portraits arrive by November 30, 2026. Refunds to an original payment method require you to contact Player Support within 30 days, and Riot does not state when that window starts, so request it early.

Which champions can I play before it ends?

The mode now has 88 champions. See the full League Classic champion list.

Will I lose any League of Legends account progress?

No. Only Classic-specific progress and content are affected. League of Legends itself is unchanged.
