The fastest way to level your Battle Pass is to complete daily and weekly missions first, then play normally. Missions supply the majority of the BXP needed to finish the free track — gameplay time-in-game fills the rest. Game mode choice barely matters; party size does.
How BXP Works
Battle Pass XP (BXP) comes from two sources: missions and time played. For gameplay, every minute of any matchmade League of Legends game earns 1.3 objective points, including Co-Op vs AI and limited-time modes like URF and Arena. TFT games sometimes count too, depending on the specific mission (check the objective text). Points convert to BXP at a 1:1 rate via a repeating mission (50 BXP per 50 points). Two multipliers apply on top:
- +30% for winning the game
- +30% for playing in a premade party (at least one friend)
These stack. A win with a friend earns 1.3 × 1.6 = 2.08 points per minute — nearly double the base rate of a solo loss.
Which Game Mode Levels the Pass Fastest?
All matchmade LoL modes earn the same 1.3 points per minute, including Co-Op vs AI. ARAM games are shorter (~25 minutes vs. ~35 minutes for Summoner's Rift), so they earn less BXP per game — but the hourly rate is nearly identical once you account for queue and loading time.
| Mode | Avg. game length | BXP/game (solo, 50% WR) | BXP/hr estimate |
|---|---|---|---|
| ARAM | ~25 min | ~37 | ~75–85 |
| Normal (SR) | ~35 min | ~52 | ~75–85 |
| Ranked (SR) | ~35 min | ~52 | ~75–85 |
| Co-Op vs AI | ~25–30 min | ~40 | ~75–85 |
Game mode barely moves the needle. The party bonus does: playing with one friend increases your effective BXP rate by 30%, which over a full Act adds up to several extra free milestones.
Missions Come First
Missions account for the bulk of the BXP needed to complete the free track. Prioritize them in this order:
| Mission type | BXP | Requirement | Resets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly general (fixed) | 500 | Earn 175 objective points | Every Wednesday |
| Weekly random (×4) | 125–300 each | Various objectives | Every Wednesday |
| Daily | 100 | Win 1 game or play 2 | Daily at 20:00 UTC |
| Repeating gameplay | 50 | 50 objective points | Unlimited |
Each week you get five missions: the 500 BXP general one is the same for everyone, and the other four are randomized per player.
The daily mission is the highest-priority habit: 100 BXP for a single win. Miss it and you've lost the equivalent of ~80 minutes of solo play. The weekly general mission (500 BXP) is worth completing every week even if you only play a few games — earning 175 objective points takes about two normal games.
Additional BXP missions unlock throughout the Act for events, champion mastery milestones, and featured game modes. Check the Missions tab at the start of each week.
How Long Does It Take?
The free track has 48 milestones at 500 BXP each, totaling 24,000 BXP. An Act lasts roughly 6 weeks (Pandemonium: Act I runs April 29 – June 8, 2026, for reference).
| Playstyle | Hours/week | Est. completion | Assumptions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light | 2–3 hrs | 5–6 weeks | Daily mission most days, weekly general, a few random weeklies |
| Casual | 4–6 hrs | 4–5 weeks | All dailies, all weeklies, modest gameplay BXP |
| Regular | 8–10 hrs | 3–4 weeks | All missions plus steady repeating gameplay BXP |
| Heavy | 15+ hrs | 2–3 weeks | All missions plus high game volume, often with a premade |
Playing in a premade most sessions shaves roughly 20% off any row above — the +30% party bonus compounds across every game.
Riot's stated design goal is that players who complete daily and weekly missions finish the free track before the Act ends without grinding. The math supports it: missions alone contribute roughly 15,000–18,000 BXP across a full Act if completed consistently.
What the Free Track Actually Gives You
The 48 milestones are worth completing for the loot, not just the BXP number. Typical free-track contents per Act:
- ~9,000 Blue Essence (usually awarded in a few large 3,000 BE chunks)
- Three champion permanents — Pandemonium: Act I includes Annie (milestone 6), Kindred (milestone 22), and Shaco (milestone 46). The selection changes each Act.
- 8 Hextech Chest + Key combos
- 1 Glorious Champion Capsule (milestone 39 in the current Act) plus a few normal Champion Capsules
- Profile titles, icons, and emotes scattered across the track
If you only ever cleared the free track each Act, you'd net roughly 18,000+ BE per year plus a steady stream of chests and champion shards — a meaningful chunk of free champion progress for an account that just plays normally.
The Epilogue Chapter (After Milestone 48)
Finishing milestone 48 doesn't end progression. An infinitely repeating Epilogue chapter takes over, pattern-locked at 500 BXP per milestone like the main track. Every four milestones repeat the same loot cycle:
- Milestones 49, 50, 51: 750 Blue Essence each (free)
- Milestone 52: 25 Orange Essence (paid Pass only)
- Then 53, 54, 55 give 750 BE again, 56 gives OE, and so on for the rest of the Act
For free players this works out to 2,250 BE every four milestones. It's not glamorous, but if you've already cleared the main track and you're still playing, the BE compounds faster than it would from level-up capsules alone.
Honor Bonus BXP
Players at Honor levels 3, 4, and 5 receive occasional 150 BXP drops at random intervals. Level 4 and 5 receive them more frequently. These are a small bonus on top of normal progression — not a meaningful farming lever on their own, but a reason to keep your honor standing healthy by honoring teammates after games. Honor also affects key fragment drop rates separately from BXP.
